The time to burn is now;
To not burn them now
Is to burn the now forever.

It’s time to burn our Lust, that:
Deceives us with false promises,
Detracts from the human inside us,
Distracts us from true beauty,
Distances us from our fellow beings.
It’s now, it’s now,
It’s time to burn our Anger, that:
Erects walls between hearts,
Erodes bonds the most beautiful,
Extinguishes our own inner spirit.
It’s now, it’s now,
It’s time to burn our Attachment, that:
Ties us down to things fleeting,
Tangles us up in conflicts avoidable,
Tyrannizes us into a world too narrow.
It’s now, it’s now,
It’s time to burn our Greed, that:
Gratifies us never,
Gifts us but grudges,
Grabs from us our gratitude.
It’s now, it’s now,
It’s time to burn our Over-Pride, that:
Binds us to glories vain,
Blinds us to growth possible,
Buries us eventually in grief lonely.
It’s now, it’s now,
It’s time to burn our Jealousy, that:
Makes every moment a misery,
Makes enemies of friends dearest,
Mantles talents both within and without.
It’s now, it’s now,
It’s time to burn our Selfishness, that:
Sinks us in wells too dark,
Steals from us joys most beautiful,
Snatches from us self our own.
It’s now, it’s now,
It’s time to burn our Injustice, that:
Silences voices weak and crying,
Stifles arguments strong and true,
Stomachs sufferings of brethren those other.
It’s now, it’s now,
It’s time to burn our Cruelty, that:
Cures no evil ever,
Closes doors many forever,
Cripples lives peaceful forever.
It’s now, it’s now,
It’s time to burn our Ego, that:
Engrosses us in perilous empires of the self,
Excludes us from others and ourselves,
Enfeebles both self and community.
It’s now, it’s now,
It’s time to burn these Ten Demons,
As also our Fear and Sloth
Standing in the way of the first step,
Of lighting the candle -
The candle of our hearts.
It’s now, it’s now,
It’s time to burn everything,
To burn the Demons out,
By burning Life in our Hearts anew;
To not burn them now
Is to burn the now forever,
And the forever for ever now!
